Hardin Planetarium Presents: The Planets

Monday, April 6, 2009

What is a planet? The International Astronomical Union modified the definition of a planet during its August 2006 General Assembly. Pluto and some other objects are now classified as both "Dwarf Planets" and "Plutoids". The program will discuss how we think the Solar System was formed, how we are currently defining members of the Solar System, and will feature photographs of the planets taken by various spacecraft. The current evening constellations will also be pointed out.
