C46 Light Curve
You have discovered a Cepheid! Ferrarese et al. (1996) named
this Cepheid C46. Below is their plot of C46's light curve. On Part
I, Section B of your lab sheet, record the name of the Cepheid, its
grid section number (47), its average apparent V magnitude
(mv), and its period (P). (Careful: the numbers decrease
going up the vertical axis!) When you're done, return to the main grid section 47 page to
look for another Cepheid, or return to
the main WF4 8x8 grid.
Finally, the prize! When you find a Cepheid, it relinquishes its
light curve, and its period. The explanation of how to determine the
physical parameters of the Cepheid from the light curve will be
deferred until the demo of grid section 47 is finished. To complete
